The following are covered in Topics in Translation Review

  1. In this book I am proving that a new theory of translation works, a new theory of Bible translation and interpreting called: the Perfect Harmony Theory of Translation and Interpreting.
  2. It is not only a new theory of spiritual understanding that I am bringing to the world but, in fact, this is a theory that helps me to answer and solve a scholarly problem that has existed in the Qur’an for 1400 years! And the problem is: how do we reconcile the Bible and the Qur’an in order to achieve unity of thought and understanding?
  3. The book tests a new theory of translation and interpretation using sacred text such as the Bible and the Qur’an to demonstrate the following thesis
    • a.i. Monolingual translation is translation contrary to widespread belief to the contrary.
    • a.ii. The book harmonizes Qur’anic and Biblical definitions of: “the Spirit of God” in order to enhance the role of metaphor in Biblical and Qur’anic translations
    • a.iii. Biblical analyses show that Ishmael and the descendants of Ishmael shall be saved and have been saved already
  4. I am proving that translation/interpretation is still translation/interpretation even where only one language is used.
  5. I am reviewing/critiquing a translation/interpretation by Qur’anic scholars that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God and that God has no Son
  6. I am reviewing/critiquing a translation/interpretation by Bible scholars that all Muslims will go to Hell
  7. By means of the research, I found both Qur’an and Bible Scholars to have presented false translations/interpretations
    • a.i. Between 1440 BC and 586 BC, it was written in the Book of Psalms 2:7 in the Bible that Jesus Christ is the Son of God
    • a.ii. Some 600 years after the Bible was completed, between 609 CE and 632 CE, the Qur’an came along and stated that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God
    • a.iii. This apparent divergence has led several very influential Christian scholars, preachers, televangelists, authors, laymen and women to declare that all Muslims will go to Hell: this is false doctrine!
    • a.iv. In 2017, by means of Translation Review/Critique, I am confirming that Jesus Christ is the Son of God at the spiritual level and not at the natural, human, biological level
    • a.v. Since the Qur’an did not make any pronouncement on the spiritual level whether Jesus Christ is spiritually the Son of God or not, then we cannot fault the Qur’an on the spiritual level
    • a.vi. Also very strangely, we discover that we cannot also fault the Qur’an on the natural, human, biological level for saying that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God because it is true that on the natural, human, biological level God has no companion and God has no Son! And even we who are still flesh, once we are saved, we are no longer flesh unto God but spirits!
    • a.vii. It is at the spiritual level that the Qur’an converges with the Bible when both Sacred Books affirm that Jesus Christ is the Spirit of God
    • a.viii. So once we make that spiritual position very clear, then we are in fact saying the same thing as the Qur’an has said, to wit, (1) Jesus Christ is the Spirit of God (2) God has no companion and (3) Jesus Christ is not the natural, human, biological Son of God!
    • a.ix. Using metaphor to understand the spiritual concept of “son”, we arrived at the conclusion that “Jesus Christ the Son of God” is a spiritual metaphorical expression.
    • a.x. Using biological implications of “father” and “son”, we found that God as spirit reproduces after His own kind according to the law of God that all living things must reproduce and multiply after their own kind
    • a.xi. We discovered that there is a spiritual Law that allows God to call Jesus Christ “the Son”
    • a.xii. From the Qur’an we found that Jesus Christ was the only true Muslim as He was the only man since Creation to keep his total Islam
    • a.xiii. We also found evidence that The Hadith bears testimony that Jesus Christ was the only true Muslim
    • a.xiv. By means of the research in the book, we arrived at the conclusion that the great divide between Muslims and Christians on the true status of Jesus Christ, whether he is the Son of God or not, was brought about because Qur’anic scholars have striped the metaphorical and spiritual meanings from the expression: “Son of God” and have focused only on its physical, biological meaning whereas God is not physical nor biological but Spirit!
    • a.xv. We also found evidence both in the Qur’an and in the Bible that Jesus Christ is God!
    • a.xvi. We reasoned that if Jesus Christ is not human then the Qur’an is right to declare that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God, howbeit, only on the human, biological levels.
    • a.xvii. We also found that there is a convergence at the spiritual level between the Qur’an and the Bible on the vexed question of Jesus Christ as the Son of God
    • a.xviii. Again we discovered that the difficulty of Muslims to understand the spiritual concept of Son of God is not new but dates back to the beginning of Creation when God prophesied that the seed shall bruise the head and the head shall bruise the seed
    • a.xix. We also found that whereas Abraham was thinking in the physical, biological mode of “sonship”, God taught his friend Abraham the correct spiritual definition of “son”
    • a.xx. We also found seven spiritual pillars that establish the sonship of Jesus Christ
    • a.xxi. Still by means of the research, we found something called: the multi-functional and multi-dimensional nature of God and Jesus Christ
    • a.xxii. We then discovered that one of the Apostles of Jesus Christ was a Muslim!
    • a.xxiii. Apart from the misconception on the title of “Son of God”, there is another misconception that borders on “the resurrection of Jesus Christ” which I used Sura 4:158 and John 11:25 to explain
    • a.xxiv. By a careful, methodical, step by step analysis of both Bible verses and Qur’an suwar, we have shown that what we hitherto called misconception and disagreement and point of conflict among Christians and Muslims for one thousand four hundred years bordering on “the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”, is, in fact, no misconception at all but rather an agreement that is hidden in spiritual parabolic language, and if only you will allow the Bible and the Qur’an to speak for themselves in perfect harmony Holy Spirit will always guide you to the right knowledge of God Almighty!
    • a.xxv. We also discovered that there is a law of language parity and spiritual communication, revealed in both the Bible and the Qur’an whereby God speaks to humans in the language in which they were born or understand and not in some obscure inaccessible Arabic language, and we pointed out that this is the light of revelation that the Muslim Scholars missed when they read the law of intralingual translation and the law of language parity and spiritual communication in Sura 44:58.
    • a.xxvi. Now in order to answer the question whether the Qur’an that was revealed to the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was a translation or an original spiritual message, we followed the trajectory of the Qur’an and found that the Qur’an has undergone twelve translations so far from its revelation by Allah to our present day in 2017.
    • a.xxvii. Finally we found that the Bible and the Qur’an sold in the bookstores are not the original Word of God!
  8. The new theory that I used to arrive at those findings is called the Perfect Harmony Theory of Translation and Interpretation (Pryce, 2011)
